9 Point Action Plan...
1. Working Group
Four Zonal Chairpersons and the National Director
From inputs and discussions this week,
Broad consensus on Draft Development Plan achieved. The Plan now goes to the Trustees for final approval. Thanks to the Working Group comprising of the Zonal Chairpersons, the Award is now good hands and together we will reach out to the youth beyond the Schools too.

In July the Trustees meet, and further we will have in place some policy decisions to take this ahead.
2. Exchange initiatives – will be part of Zones to handle and Sourajit will try to do this.
3. IT Initiative – Meeting with Priyank and Rohit. We are doing an IT and Web Plan, and Rohit will head this task force. The Plan will be ready in July 2009.
4. The first 18-25 Award Centre SRI AUROBINDO CENTRE FOR ARTS AND CULTURE; the first OPEN AWARD CENTRE in India, will start work in July, after the college admissions are done. We are doing this as a model and have even applied for Special Projects Funding to take this ahead.

5. Zonal offices – will all be doing their bit to build up the teams and infrastructure.
To take the Award Programme, need to build Zonal Offices – this will be part of strategy once the Development Plan is implemented.

7. Alumni network; The Alumni Network is best built at the Zonal Level alone, Rohit will now concentrate on the IT initiative and consolidate position on FACEBOOK as IAYP India ONLY.
8. PR and corporate communication; meetings …
Maroof will Head the PR and Corporate Communication Group; Shloka will assist. Maroof will be the official spokesperson, handle events and keep up with agencies for PR and build up.

1. Policy and National Operations
Working Group = 4 Zonal Chairpersons and ND (add to five in all) – we meet next, in September 2009
2. IT and Web
Rohit Saxena as Leader will develop his team
3. PR and Communication
Maroof and Sholka … our spokes person will be Maroof and he will steer all PR and other needs
4. Brand and Partnering
While Maroof will give us inputs on PR and Strategy, Rohit will keep us Tech Savvy and for Brand and Partnering will be handled by Sandeep Dutt.
Way ahead...
The operations and activity at Zonal Level is well established, the need is only to build the Brand of the Award and for this we just need:-

· Good PR
· Strong IT and Web Plan
· Good Partnerships
From the National Office we will just concentrate on this great revival of the Award India brand!

Weekly update 21st June 2009

9 Point Action Plan...

1. Working Groups- Not much progress this week.
This will happen once the schools open and the Zonal Chairpersons get to meet up with the National Director. The Working Group comprises Zonal Chairperson, Members of NAA and could be an invitee.
In July the Trustees meet, and further we will have in place some policy decisions to take this ahead. Until then cheers!

2. Exchange initiatives - please do work on this with your Zonal Team and the schools.
Sourajit is back, and now we look ahead to encourage exchange visits of Awardees, participants and Award Leaders.

3. IT Initiative – the Blog and the Facebook features, The IAYP website are being updated regularly

Priyank is controlling all from the Book Cafe IT and Management Centre, in Dehradun, India. He will work on a National IT strategy and see how we can develop a solutions for the entire IT backbone needed for the Award in India. Rohit is in touch with Priyank.

4. The first 18-25 Award Centre SRI AUROBINDO CENTRE FOR ARTS AND CULTURE;

The first OPEN AWARD CENTRE in India, will start work in July, after the college admissions are done.

The International Council has invited Sandeep Dutt to be join the 8 member IC Team for Brand Strategy. In July 2009, Sandeep to attend meeting in London.

9. Programme to hinterland is happening too
Now near 375 schools and hope to reach 500 Award Centres in 2010
Aloke is in touch with the new Leads in the WEST and Malini is active too.
News from South and East will come, once the Summer Holidays over.
Need inputs and invites from Zones to plan travel and assist in development.

National Director Induction Training, Australia

6th of June to the 14th in Australia.

National Directors of Bangladesh and India were invited by the Regional Director Sue Walker, to get a formal training and develop a strategy for the National Directors strategic alliance, due to be made in 2010.

An opportunity to get a first hand, and more so a ring side view of the Award Programme organisation in Australia; where there is a federal model very much like India. Both countries have had the programme going for near 50 years and have always worked closely in training, development and growth of the Award Programme in the Asia Pacific Region.

Summary Report:
This was a maiden effort and a good one; familiarized us with our duties and prepared the National Directors to adopt the best practices and build the Award Programme. From an understanding of the international perspective, to the nuts and bolts of the operation and finally the development of a strategic plan.

No news from India for this week; am back and next week you will hear more about the developments in India. The East Zone on Holiday, schools closed, activity on an ebb.

9 Point Action Plan - 31st May 2009

Weekly update as on Sunday the 31st of May 2009

1. Working Groups- Not much progress this week.

3. IT Initiative – the Blog and the Facebook features have been activated.

4. The first 18-25 Award Centre SRI AUROBINDO CENTRE FOR ARTS AND CULTURE;
Good developments - Devyani and Shibani had a meeting with the Director and Dean of the institute; they are in the process of registering with the North Zone; as soon as colleges open, new entrants will be enrolled from all colleges. Meeting on the 1st of June 20009

We are most grateful to the Book Cafe management for accommodating us at the Book Cafe warehouse area, in New Delhi. The area is about 300 sq ft for IAYP with shared facilities of meeting room, rest room, IT hardware and other office facilities.

8. Branding and corporate communication; meetings …
HSBC conference on the 27th a big success, they will start GO for GOLD, and this will be away to motivate and retain HR.

Had meetings with Mrs. Jyotsna Brar of Welham, Dr. Amrit Mitra - FICCI Secy. General, Mr. Sandeep Dikshit - MP from Delhi, Mr. Anoop Kaul of Baaix India, and Mr. Vijay Mahajan one of India's celebrated micro finance and social development achiever.
